Fewer Handoffs, Better Outcomes: AI and the New PM–UX Partnership

The classic PM-to-designer-to-engineer relay is full of waiting. This talk tells the story of how the OfficeRnD’s product team set out to collapse this by rewiring how PMs, designers, and engineers work together, using the latest AI capabilities of Claude Code & Claude Cowork. As a product organization with an already established UX process, AI transforms the team’s work by freeing them from repetitive tasks so they can focus on what matters: judgment, craft, and decisions.

  • The PM produces early prototypes instead of writing static briefs.
  • The Designer acts as the persona expert who reviews key prototypes and improves the experience of the existing product, ultimately owning the user experience.
  • The Engineers are encouraged to make their own micro-decisions in the earlier stages of the product, using Claude skills and a well defined Design System

AI strengthens the partnership and allows for versatile workflows. Instead of replacing good UX practice, AI is making discovery and validation faster and smoother.

Takeaways
Presented by Senior PM Radoslav and Product Design Team Leader Teodora, this talk honestly shares:

  • Real scenarios from a product scale-up and how they used AI to shorten the PM-to-Designer-to-Engineer relay flow.
  • How this new division of labor looks in practice and how it changes the roles of PM and Designer.
  • Lessons learned and the moments where AI-driven prototypes fell short or misled the team.

Target Audience
This talk is for anyone wondering how AI is changing the PM-UX equilibrium, and will be useful for PMs, Designers, and their managers alike. Since process changes will be discussed, Ops people will benefit from the talk as well.
